Make Comforters
Working together to provide warmth dignity and hope to those in need
A handmade comforter provides more than just physical warmth — it delivers a powerful, compassionate message to someone in need: you matter, and you are not forgotten. Each stitch represents care and community support, transforming simple materials into something deeply meaningful.
You can play a part in this outreach in several ways. Donating fabric helps supply the essential materials needed to make comforters; cotton and cotton-blend fabrics are especially ideal because they’re durable, comfortable, and easy to work with.
If you prefer hands-on preparation and you enjoy working with others, consider joining volunteers at the MRC. Here you can help by cutting fabric into patches or sewing the patches together to create the colorful comforter tops, and participate in knotting the comforters — a crucial step that holds the layers securely in place.
Using large needles and thick thread, volunteers work side-by-side, turning individual pieces of fabric into finished comforters that will offer tangible comfort and hope to someone in need.
